From 2008 through 2012, Stephen Swanson served as the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Company (Invest AD), one of the oldest Abu Dhabi government-owned financial services companies specializing in private investments. While at Invest AD, Stephen played an active role in the management and oversight of the company’s investments, including serving on the Management, Investment and Product Committees, and was appointed as a director and advisor to several of the company’s subsidiaries and affiliates. He also advised the company on strategic and corporate development, including strategic approach to investments and divestments, build-out of product platform, joint ventures and expansion of corporate partner network.
Prior to joining Invest AD, Stephen was the global head of the Alternative Investments and Structured Products legal team for the Global Wealth Management division of Citigroup, where he was responsible for the manufacture, distribution and support of investment products offered to high net worth clients of the Citi Private Bank and Smith Barney. Stephen also has 12 years experience with leading global law firms Clifford Chance, Jones Day and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. He holds a J.D. from the Duke University School of Law and a B.A. from Cornell University, and is a member of the New York Bar.
In addition to his work with FDX, Stephen is also the Founding Member of Gulfbridge Capital, a New York-based strategic and business advisory firm focused on identifying and facilitating business opportunities between the Middle East and the Americas. He is also actively involved with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as Young Fellow.
Stephen serves on the FDX deal origination and execution team and holds Series 79 and 63 securities licenses and is a registered representative of FDX Capital LLC, a member of FINRA & SIPC.
